Date for your diary – Don’t miss Watford Celebration 2009
May 25th at the Colosseum

Watford’s third annual celebration of its diverse cultures, faiths and talents, will taking place at the Watford Colosseum 11.00 am to 5 pm.  There will be a variety of musical entertainment, dance, stalls and kids activities.  Food for thought with interfaith dialogue at the Sacred Space and loads of fantastic free food generously provided by our communities for hungry tummies.  Don’t miss this spectacular event, now imitated in other towns in the region  – the pride of Watford.  FREE entry

Watford students’ experiment in growing food and cultivation algae attracts further interest

The greenhouse experiment to grow food and algae in dilute sea nutrients is taking shape at St Michaels college in Garston.  A number of parties have contacted FREdome to express interest  including 3Counties Hydroponics, Greenfinch Biogesters of Bedford, Oceangrown Hydroponics of and the National Oceanographic Centre. Talks with other private and public sector partners in environmental technology development are progressing. We will inform you as soon as we have any definite news.

St Michaels student to produce a news report on FREdome for BBC!

Year 8 student Tobias of Townsend School has been nominated to produce a short news report on the school’s involvement in the C-Green Project.  If successful the report will be selected to feature in the BBC Children’s News Day project on 26 Mar 2009.  Watch to 6pm news to see if Watford is included!

 FREdome to meet Watford Chamber of Commerce 7th May

Celebrated author, journalist and scientist Professor Bill McGuire of UCL, whose book “Seven years to Save the planet “ presages the climate change acceleration reported by the world media will be speaking at this event at the Watford Chamber of Commerce at 7.15 am on Thursday  7th May.

FREdome Visionary Trust founder Greg Peachey will address local business leaders on the progress of FREdome and its local to global project.  Independent comment will be by Rupert Read, the Green party candidate for the European parliament elections 2009.   If you would like to attend, please contact Lorraine at the Watford Chamber of Commerce – 01923 442442

FREdome Yea – youth group fundraisers move into new territory

Trendsetting youth group FREdome YEA continue to astonish with their energy and ambition for their fundraising events. Their first ever club night in Hemel Hempstead will take place at Lava and Ignite on Wednesday 8th April.  This under 18’s only alcohol free event will feature DJ Danny Dutty Mix-B, hip hop floor show and live local unsigned bands. Tickets are at on special offer at £5 – very affordable so well worth a trip up to Jarman Park!  Proceeds go to support the work of FREdome.   More info.

Mars Patrol, the indie band that supports our cause will be playing an awareness-raising gig at a London Club venue – O2 Academy Islington – at 7 pm on Monday 6th April.  A coach will transport local supporters from Hemel, St Albans and Watford.

There are requests for FREdome YEA events in 26 locations across the UK!
