Celebration time!

June 23, 2010

The riot of colour that is Watford’s unique Celebration took place for the fourth year running at the Colosseum on Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd May 2010.

People arrived in their thousands to partake of the never ending miracle of free food, spiritual sharing and contrasting entertainments.

A huge number of groups took part. There were 50 stalls, as many acts and all major faiths and cultures represented.

For the first time, Show the World – a youth talent competition – was staged as an addition to the event. The show was organised and hosted by the young team at FREdome-YEA and 12 acts took part in the finals, including talented musicians and breathtaking dancers. The judges’ prize was awarded to 10 year old self taught dancer Sabrina Hassan and the audience vote went to young performers of the Instep School of Ballet.

Greg Peachey, FREdome founder and chair of the Watford Celebration says, “It’s a testament to the wonderful people of Watford that this event just gets more diverse and exciting. Thanks to everyone who gave their time to take part in this amazing show and all our sponsors – in particular St Michael’s Catholic High School.”
